Download

Davton's Outlook Addin allows you to sync your contacts from an Outlook address book to your MailChimp lists. To install, you'll need to sign up so you can get a personalized link to download the plugin delivered to your inbox. After downloading, Davton will send a couple follow-up emails to make sure the plugin was installed correctly.

Install

Davton's plugin is currently only for Windows, but it comes with a straightforward installation process. Double click the installer and run through the standard installation steps, choosing the installation directory.

You'll need a MailChimp API Key to connect the plugin to a MailChimp account.

Davton also has a helpful YouTube video to walk through each step of the process, including grabbing a MailChimp API Key.

Sync

The purpose of this plugin is to sync Outlook contacts (or groups of contacts) with an existing list in MailChimp and vice versa. For subscribing existing contacts to a MailChimp list, click to select the existing Outlook contact(s) to sync and then click the "MailChimp" tab in Outlook. From there, click "Subscribe Contacts to MailChimp List" from the toolbar. A popup should appear to choose a list and map appropriate fields from Outlook contacts to existing fields in the selected MailChimp list.

Continue for final confirmation of the contacts to sync to MailChimp, as well as a couple of options for notifying subscribers that they're being added to a list. According to our best practices, if subscribers have opted-in to receive email previously, there's no need to send them a confirmation email. But if these contacts have not opted-in, it's best to use MailChimp's built-in double opt-in process to make sure only consenting and engaged subscribers are added to a MailChimp list. Once again, Davton has a helpful walk-through video posted on their site:
